Rabbi
Berel Wein founded (September 1977) and is currently Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva
Shaarei Torah of Rockland. Rabbi Wein is a graduate of Hebrew Theological
College and Roosevelt College, Chicago. He received his Juris Doctor degree
from De Paul University and Doctor of Hebrew letters from Hebrew theological
College.
Rabbi Wein was a practicing lawyer for a number of years. In 1964 he assumed
the pulpit of Beth Israel Congregation in Miami Beach, Florida until 1972.
In the spring if 1972 he was appointed Executive Vice president of the
Union of Orthodox Organizations of America. He assumed the position of
Rabbinic Administrator of the Kashrus Diversion of the Union of Orthodox
Congregations in October 1972 and remained in that position until September
1977.
He was Rabbi of Congregation Bias Torach of Suffern, New York. Rabbi Wein
has published several books of halachic essays. Chikrei Halacha, published
by Mosad Harav Kook in 1976 and "Eyunim B'm'sechtach Hatalmud" in 1989.
Rabbi Berel Wein is an internationally renowned Jewish historian, author,
speaker and lecturer. His popular tape cassette series on Jewish History
and his recently published book, entitled Triumph of Survival, the story
of the Jews in the modern Era 1650- 1900s, as well as the companion volume
"Herald of Destiny," the story of the Jews in the Medieval era, have received
rave reviews.
